Warning Signs That Indicate A Problem With Oral Health
It is extremely important to be mindful of your oral health. Your mouth provides many warnings when something is not right and may need intervention by our dental team. The longer you ignore the signs, the greater your chance of experiencing a dental emergency. Would you know what warning signs to look for that tell you there is a problem with your oral health? We are here to help!
Severe Pain or Discomfort
If you are experiencing severe pain or discomfort in your teeth or jaw, it is important to schedule an appointment immediately. This is an indication that you may have a serious problem with your oral health. If it has been some time since your last visit to the office, you may need a filling, a dental crown, or even a root canal. To help alleviate discomfort, you can take an over-the-counter pain medication.
Bleeding Gums
This can be common if you are rough when brushing and flossing your teeth; however, if you regularly experience bleeding gums, you may have gum disease. Gum disease is extremely common, affecting more than half of American adults.
Tooth Sensitivity
It is not uncommon to experience sensitivity following dental treatment, but if you notice you are having problems regularly, you may have an issue with your oral health. Tooth sensitivity can indicate a problem with your dental enamel, an exposed nerve, tooth decay, or gum disease.
We recommend contacting our office if you notice anything out of the ordinary with your oral health, for example if your bite changes suddenly or you notice something unusual about the appearance of your teeth, such as a sudden change in color, a crack or chip, or if they feel loose.
If you experience any of the warning signs mentioned above, be sure to contact our office located in Kaufman, TX to schedule an appointment. The sooner we can see you, the better chance you have of avoiding a serious dental emergency.
