Oral Surgery
At Noble Oaks Dentistry, Dr. James and his team are proud to offer a number of treatments in the office that would otherwise be referred to a specialist. This not only saves our patients time, but it also allows a dentist and team that our patients trust to provide the in-depth treatments they need. One treatment method in particular that Dr. James is proud to provide his patients is oral surgery. Oral surgery is the general term for any surgical procedure involving the mouth and jaw. Two of the most popular oral surgery treatments we perform are removing wisdom teeth and placing dental implants.
Why Would I Need Oral Surgery?
Oral surgery is often needed when a more basic treatment will not solve the problem. For example, if a tooth is missing, severely decayed, impacted in the gums, has become infected, or if there is crowding, oral surgery may be the only solution to eliminate the problem and prevent further complications.
Examples of Oral Surgery
As mentioned above, two of the oral surgery treatments Dr. James regularly performs are wisdom teeth extraction and dental implant placement:
Wisdom Tooth Extraction
This is the most common oral surgery procedure. Wisdom teeth typically emerge during the late teen years, much later than the other adult teeth. This can create many issues, such as too little room in the mouth or crowding, or one or more of the wisdom teeth can remain impacted in the jaw and cause extreme discomfort. The only solution is to remove the teeth to reduce the impact on your oral health, the alignment of your teeth, and your bite.
Dental Implant Placement
When a tooth is missing, it is often recommended to replace the tooth as soon as possible. One of our top recommendations for a tooth replacement is a dental implant. Other dental offices will recommend you see a specialist for the oral surgery component of the procedure. Dr. James is qualified to place the implant in the jawbone right in the office.
